Rules and Conditions for the EHS Academic Achievement Award

Earn up to $4,000 with an Academic Achievement Award and Reduce Housing Costs!

EHS is pleased to welcome students to apply for the EHS Academic Achievement Award which enables a student, residing at the St. George residence in Brooklyn, to receive up to $4,000 in awards as a credit to reduce dorm costs. The Academic Achievement award will be limited to 50 participants. See below for eligibility requirements.

This is a three year program beginning in September 2014 and extending through May 2017. If a full time student is enrolled at a two or four year institution of higher education and reserves a dormitory bed by August 24, 2014, then he or she becomes eligible to participate in this program. The Academic Achievement Award (AAA) is based on a participating student, who meets the Eligibility Requirements below, earning a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the 2014/15 and 2015/16 academic years. If a minimum GPA of 3.5 is achieved in 2014/15 and the other Eligibility Requirements are satisfied, then EHS will award the student a $2,000 credit toward 9 month housing at St. George for the 2015/16 academic year. If the student maintains a 3.5 GPA through the 2015/16 academic year, then the award winning student will have their choice of either a $1,000 cash award, or a $2,000 credit towards 9 month St. George housing for the 2016/17 academic year.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. The student must meet all EHS current reservation requirements and apply by August 24, 2014.
  2. The student must reserve directly with an EHS Housing Advisor.
  3. The student must be enrolled in a school or university located within the five boroughs of New York City for a minimum of 12 credits for each semester that they participate in the program.
  4. The student must book and reside with EHS for the full 9-month academic year for each year the student is participating in the program.
  5. The $4,000 total credit is broken down into four $1,000 per semester credits: Fall 2015, Spring 2016, Fall 2016 and Spring 2017.
  6. If a student’s GPA falls below a 3.5 for the academic year, the student is no longer eligible to participate in the program, and will not receive credit or cash award for any future semesters.
  7. Students qualifying for AAA will need to provide EHS a certified copy of his or her transcript with GPA, and book their 2015/16 reservation by August 24, 2015 to receive the credit. To receive the housing credit for the 2016/17 academic year, the student must book their reservation and provide a certified copy of their transcript with GPA by August 24, 2016.
  8. All awards are subject to applicable taxes. EHS will provide the student with a 1099 at the end of the year.
  9. Awards are non-transferable. A credit or cash award is awarded directly to the participating student.
  10. The Academic Achievement award will be limited to 50 participants.
  11. After achieving a 3.5 GPA continuously for both the 2014/15 and 2015/16 academic years, the participating student has the choice of either a $1,000 cash award or a $2,000 credit . A cash award is not available after completing only the 2014/15 year.
  12. Should all requirements be met and fulfilled the program will conclude at the end of spring semester May 2017.
