Short, Sweet, One-Day Treat

When my roommate's alarm went off twice before 9:14 am this morning, I was annoyed. When her phone also rang at 9:00, I rolled back over bound and determined to get my last fourteen minutes of sleep.

So, I Know I've Made You All Wait Since Thursday...

Last Thursday evening, I took time to de-stress and finally unpack from last weekend's trip to Boston. The night worked out perfectly as I was able to get some quality time in with both my roommate and addiction to romance novels. Friday morning I woke up rejuvenated and ready to go. And go we did...we had a busy busy day.

The Last of the Truly Great New York City Adventures of the Summer of '07

I know, I know, it's been days and days and practically eons since I last wrote. But I swear it's not from lack of stimulation. Rather, there has been an abundance of things to do, places to go, and people to see. And I, in my "throw my self into it" fashion, have spent my last few days doing rather than recording.

Things in Review!

My room is littered with friends, but I really mean that Lauren is on Trischa's bed and Sara C is curled up on the floor. Its been a long day and a longer weekend so we kick back, laughing, laughing, laughing at HBO's entourage. Here's the way the crazy busy but not stressful weekend broke down:

A Day at the Met and About Town!

Walking through the modern art wing on the second floor of the Met with Sara C, the 27 year old art history major and graduate student now working as an art conservationist, she fills up the silence trying to connect me to art I feel little connection to. Like African and Chinese art, modern art does very little for me.

Today Was Quick, Painless, And I'm In Love With This New Karaoke Place!

Ali woke me up this morning after a late night of reading. We got coffee, breakfast, and went on our separate ways to work. Work was decent.

Stealth - Music In The City...

No one ever tells you that New York is full of music. They don't take you aside and say quietly, "there are people who will turn your subway ride into beauty."

In the past three weeks I've been a surprise attendant at a violin concert, a flute recital, a rap showdown (and while I'm sure there's a more correct name for that, I certainly don't know it) not to mention several drum sessions and a handful of guitar performances. All of these people were just living, some of them trying to make some money, some there just for the joy of it, one of them even had little dolls that danced in front of him while he played!

Dear poor college students, for a free music experience (that fits into your schedule) spend time in the New York City subways.

My Life In Quick Review

On Thursday my friend Meagan M came to visit with her friend Rachel and Lauren T joined the three of us to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and visit the International Center for Photography.

"I'm totally top forty for this band!" - Lauren T about...was it Panic At The Disco??

Today I gave my first New York City directions!! I know it sounds dumb but it was the high-high-highlight of my day. Somehow over the last few days I made the difficult transition from tourist to...whatever is slightly less touristy without being born and raised here - I'd vote a "New York transplant."

Three Days of Updates Equals One Long Entry!

Thursday: On Thursday I hung out with Lauren and Tom, didn't do my laundry, and we ended up downstairs in the beautiful Clark lounge at midnight beginning to watch the chick flick Practical Magic on my laptop.
