Q.What are the EHS guest policies?

Short Term Guests: Can I have family or friends visit me at the residence?
Yes, provided that there is no unreasonable interference with the rights of a roommate, a resident may have a maximum of two (2) short-term guests (i.e. who stay for a few hours but not overnight) at a time -- check with each building's Residence Guide for regulated hours.


Overnight Guests: Can I have an overnight guest?
Yes, residents can have overnight guests (guests who stay for longer than a few hours and/or sleeps in the room overnight) after 2am -- check with each building's Residence Guides for regulated hours. Please note, that you may be required to complete a guest request form for certain residences 24 hours in advance.

Can I have more than one (1) overnight guest in my room?
A resident may have only one overnight guest at any given time.


For how long can my overnight guest stay in my room?
• New Yorker: an overnight guest form is required for any overnight guests but guests cannot stay longer than three nights without permission.
• Marymount: an overnight guest form is required after the second night.
• St. George / Clark / 55 John Street Residence / Plimpton Hall /Cathedral Gardens: an overnight guest form is required after the third night.
• In all buildings: Guests who stay from 4 to 7 nights must pay $20 per night. No guest may stay longer than seven (7) nights. There are no fees for overnight guests the first three (3) nights. Guests may not be overnight guests in the residence halls for more than seven (7) nights per calendar month, whether the same host or different hosts each night.


Do I need to fill paperwork prior my overnight guest arrival?
The New Yorker residence requires an Overnight Guest form to be completed 24 hours in advance. All other residences require a guest form either after the two or three nights. For more details, please check with the each buildings' Residence Guide.


I have a roommate can we both have overnight guest at the same time?
• Yes, but no room can have more than 2 overnight guests on any given night.
• No single room can have more than 1 overnight guest on any given night.
• Non-resident may not be overnight guests in the residence halls for more than seven (7) nights per calendar month, whether the same host or different hosts each night.


General Policies for all Residences:
• Guests are expected to abide by all college, building and EHS policies, procedures, regulations and standards.
• The host is responsible for the actions of his/her guests at all times. Any guest who violated any EHS or building policy while in student housing or other areas is subject to State of New York penalties and will be asked to leave the residence hall.
• All residents are legally and financially responsible for the conduct of your guests. Guests MUST never be left unattended and without their host in the building at any given time.
• All guests must register at the security desk by signing at the registration book and by leaving a valid form of current identification (this must be a valid, unexpired photo ID). When the guest leaves the hall they must be escorted to the lobby by the host and must sign out of the guest registration book. The ID will be returned as the guest leaves the building (it is the visitor's responsibility to retrieve their ID upon departure).
