The Brooklyn Botanic Garden

This 52-acre park showcases over 10,000 different kinds of plants from all over the world. This is a great place to come wander and lose yourself for an afternoon. There are ponds full of fish and turtles, fountains, and even rabbits running through some of the gardens.  The Japanese, Children, Native Flora and Cranford Rose Gardens are some of the most popular attractions.

Located just across the street from Brooklyn's Prospect Park and the Prospect Park Zoo, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a great place to spend a day or top off a day out in the parks.

The Bronx Zoo

The largest metropolitan zoo in the country, this massive complex holds over 6,000 animals on 500 acres. Here you can find lions, gorillas, bears, giraffes, buffalo, elephants, and everything in between. The Zoo is well known for its efforts in preservation, conservation, education, and innovative exhibits and you can view many threatened and endangered species here. There’s so much to see, in fact, that you’ll need to come back several times to take it all in.

The Central Park Zoo

Home to over 130 different species, you’ll see everything from polar bears to the Brazillian black tarantula. All of the residents live in habitats that have been recreated to match their orginial environments as closely as possible.

The Polar Zone is one of the most popular areas, with polar bears, harbor seals and penguins. The Tropic Zone is teeming with life, from colorful birds to lizards, snakes and frogs. The Temperate area includes sea lions, red pandas, and swan geese, among others.

The Tisch Children’s Zoo is an interactive playground for kids, where they can get up close and personal with animals like goats, sheep, cows and other furry friends.
