Haleigh Toner - LIM '09 - New Yorker ResidenceEHS: What's your hometown? How did you feel at first about moving to NYC and how did EHS help with any adjustments you had to make?
Haleigh: I am from Sacramento, CA. It was a bit nerve-wracking because all of my family and friends stayed back in California. Any social events really helped me feel more comfortable. It's a little scary making all new friends but most people feel that same way so getting people together in a group really helps.

EHS: How did you decide to go to LIM? What are you studying? How did you pick that as your area of focus? What year are you?
Haleigh: I was referred by an admissions counselor at Pratt and it is perfect for what I want to study and eventually become involved in as a career. I am studying Visual Merchandising and Fashion Publications. I picked it because it holds an interest in artistic ability and creativity. I am about to be a second semester sophomore.
EHS: What's your favorite 'hidden secret' of NYC?
Haleigh: Bootleg Movies :)... not really a secret, but a favorite nonetheless
EHS: Do you have any words of wisdom or advice you'd like to share with EHS students hoping to get the most out of their time in NYC?
Haleigh: Go Exploring, there is much to see and the better you know the city and what it holds the more you will find you can take advantage of living in a city of so many opportunities. Also, stay in EHS over the summer and do an internship program. I made so many good friends this summer from everywhere and we had so much fun romping around the city together. I highly recommend living in the Plimpton for summer housing.
