Brooklyn Bridge, The Bodies, World Trade Center memorial

Tonight there’s a free opera in a park somewhere...maybe its Central Park, maybe it's not...or I could go on a sunset walk over the Brooklyn Bridge with EHS. I know you must be thinking "but she can't be doing anything with her evenings, she hasn't updated since Saturday!" But, Dear Reader, that is not the case. On Sunday I went to see The Bodies Exhibit with EHS. It was just as interesting as everyone said it was. Honestly, I had never thought about the way that for example, arteries looked. Nor did I know that the veins around the lungs looked like a coral reef. It was mind blowingly cool.

On a less sunny note that afternoon, I ended up seeing the World Trade Center memorial for the first time. All of the sadness, confusion, conspiracy talks, and symbolism can be boiled down to just one word: eerie.

During my day off on Monday, Lauren and I went to the
gym, and then she, Alison, and I hung out in the afternoon. We did errands together and then met Lauren's friend Chris for dinner at The Lantern which is the Thai place on Montague which I'd gone to with Mary and Liz the week before. I had crazy noodles for the first time and really liked them! On Tuesday, the weather was nice enough that I sat outside for lunch at the California Taqueria on the corner of Bergen and Court. Their $2.99 tacos provide endless variations for a three dollar lunch. The walk home was uneventful, I took the short quiet way -- via Court to Clark rather than Court, to Montague, to Henry).

Tonight, I went on the EHS-sponsored "slightly cloudy instead of sunset" stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge. Lauren and Alison and I went with about six other students and Anthony the RA. Even though it was raining a bit, we had a great time just hanging around. Most of the group decided to take the subway back to the hotel from the financial district, but the three of us and a boy named Garret walked back the other way.

Remember Justin, the nice boy I made friends with in the elevator on the first day? We still run into each other in the elevator occasionally, and it's always lovely small chat about what we are both doing with our time here. Honestly, few things make me feel as adult as those conversations. We could easily be self sufficient and riding the elevator up to our apartments from work, rather than our internships. Anyways, it feels like we could be coming home and we have real neighbor-acquaintance conversations. We clearly aren't real friends, but the potential for friendship is there, so if we are ever trapped in the elevator or spend time together doing (heeey, I just found another reason to do laundry!) laundry, or were we living here for years, we could easily become real neighbor-friends.

::grin:: Oh and by the way, I miss everyone at home and school.
