So, I Know I've Made You All Wait Since Thursday...

Last Thursday evening, I took time to de-stress and finally unpack from last weekend's trip to Boston. The night worked out perfectly as I was able to get some quality time in with both my roommate and addiction to romance novels. Friday morning I woke up rejuvenated and ready to go. And go we did...we had a busy busy day.

Saturday reinforced how Brooklyn Heights really does feel like home. Lauren, Ali and I had pj-brunch at Clark Place, which really is convenient (right across the street from EHS on the Clark side). Then we split up to get ready for the day (and in my case to read more). That afternoon we met Lauren's friend Chris (sadly not Colorado Chris from the Statue of Liberty trip, but Greenpoint Chris from Florida). The four of us saw Transformers together. And honestly, it was probably my favorite movie that I've seen in the theatre in a long time. It was funny and sweet and even though Chris complained about it being too political, I enjoyed being swept away by the visuals. We made it an early evening, and we three girls were back at EHS by 10:30pm. Brunch, movie, cheap Mexican for dinner, I really could have been back in Lexington, MA!

Not so, Sunday. Lauren and I went on the EHS-sponsored Bronx Zoo trip and had a total blast. We met a lovely girl named Keisha and saw a solid three-fourths of the Zoo. We even did a cool safari-like monorail trip. If you ever find yourself at the Bronx zoo, be sure to check out the monorail to get a full view of the large pens – much more humane than cages!
The zoo was fantastically fun. My favorites were the monkey house, the penguins (who were barely a hand-span away), and the Asian jungle house. I'd much rather that all animals were kept in open-air cages far enough away that no dumb humans can hurt them.

After the zoo that evening the three of us went to the cheap cheap cheap pizza place by EHS and then out to Target for some grocery shopping. I am attempting to live this week with fewer meals out and less spending over-all. So far, excluding the beverage tab (ten dollars and twenty two cents in two days) I am not doing too badly.
Monday morning I got up, went to the gym and was feeling particularly productive for my final day of freedom before heading back to work. I made plans to see Sara M, as we hadn't managed to see each other the week before. I was on top of everything!  I even had exact change for doing laundry. But I had no idea that my day was going to have the amazing twist in it that it did.
