Remember how I said I wasn't going back to Heights Cafe? Well, that was a lie. On Saturday night I ended up there for a late dinner with Janet from Morgan Stanley, Mary from Goldman Sachs, and Liz from Victoria's Secret.
The service was slow but the food was good and dinner for me was a mai-tai and fries, my entire tomato basil and mozzarella sandwich came home with me for later. After dinner the four of us walked home along the Brooklyn Heights Promenade weaving between couples and families out for a lazy late-night stroll. Once back home I met my room mate Trischa and her friend Alan. They are both lovely, funny, and outgoing people. We watched a movie together and then they went out and I headed to bed not long afterwards.
The next day it was raining, so I had a lazy morning and then went on the EHS sponsored tour of our area with Mary and Liz. Although they aren't quite as explore-y as I am, the three of us seem to have formed a little clique. We skipped out on the tour when it got to the part of the heights we'd seen the night before, and instead checked out the AMAZING organic and specialty foods shop on Montague. We went to dinner at Monty's, where for disgustingly cheap you can get a great amount of tasty Italian food. I am sure we will be back to try more.
Most of my evening was spent settling in. I read the magazine EHS gave me in my welcome packet which had a great amount of suggestions for meals, attractions, and shopping haunts all $10 or under. I can't wait to try out some of the places they suggested! I also found out that were I to ever need a local superhero, Danny Rand (Iron Fist) is my best bet. Although Luke Cage (Power Man) is also from around here, he's been spending lots of time in Manhattan with the Avengers.
