The Financial District

and Educational Housing Services (EHS)

Welcome to the Financial District

You came to NYC for the experience, the story you'll tell later. At EHS 55 John Street, you're right in the middle of the Financial District... steps from Wall Street, a short walk from the subway, and surrounded by a neighborhood that's way more than just suits and skyscrapers. This is where you hit the ground running, and actually enjoy the ride.

Think the FiDi is all business? Think again. Sure, this is the neighborhood where some of the biggest companies in the world do what they do and if you're interning here, your commute just got embarrassingly easy. But once you step off the elevator and out of the office, there's a whole other version of this neighborhood waiting for you. Cobblestone streets. Hidden bars. A waterfront that'll make your camera roll jealous. The Financial District is one of NYC's oldest neighborhoods, and it's got the kind of character that takes a minute to find, but once you do, you'll wonder why anyone lives anywhere else.

Your New Backyard

☕ Fuel Up

Grab your morning coffee at Black Fox Coffee or Suited (right on John Street- yes, really). Both are the kind of spots where you'll want to actually sit down before heading into the office.

🥐 Eat Well

Eataly Downtown is a short walk and basically a one-stop shop for when you want something better than a sad desk lunch. And if you're feeling fancy? Delmonico's America's original fine dining restaurant is literally in the neighborhood. Historic and delicious.

🍻 After Work, For Real

The Dead Rabbit is a must. Craft cocktails, great vibes, and a spot that feels like it was built for the "we just survived our first week" celebration. Stone Street is a literal cobblestone block lined with outdoor bars, and its the go-to for a group outing when the weather's nice.

🌊 Clear Your Head

Battery Park is a 10-minute walk and one of the most underrated spots in Manhattan. Waterfront views, open green space, and fresh air...Perfect for a lunch break, a morning run, or just decompressing after a long day.

📸 Only in NYC Moments

Pier 17 at South Street Seaport (5 minutes from your door) hosts rooftop concerts, with the Brooklyn Bridge as your backdrop. You'll have access to some of the most iconic spots in the city, right from your front door.

The EHS 55 John Street, now available year-round, is a historic neighborhood and the city's financial home. Take in views of Lady Liberty from Battery Park or visit the New York Stock Exchange. Check out Chinatown or take in the shopping and restaurants at South Street Seaport, all within walking distance. You'll appreciate the quick commute to your school or internship, and having plenty of places to unwind afterwards.
