Being a college student and living on a budget usually come hand-in-hand. It is not always easy, but the good news is NYC is jam-packed full of free things to do. Sightseeing, music, art, and so much more can be found at no cost around every corner. The options can be endless, so we’ve narrowed down the list to some of our favorites.
Brooklyn Bridge
Make your way between Manhattan and Brooklyn on one of the most iconic landmarks in NYC. The unique views of the city you’ll get along the way are a massive bonus. To get the most out of your experience, do it in the morning or evening when there are usually far less people.Walk the High Line
Head over to Manhattan’s west side and take a walk on the High Line. Once a thriving railway track, the High Line goes from Gansevoort Street to the Meat Packing District and has pretty awesome overlooks of the surrounding area. They have some new guidelines in place, so if you decide to do this on the weekend you need to reserve your spot ahead of time. The Vessel
Hudson Yards has been growing in popularity in the past couple years, and with The Vessel standing as its epic centerpiece, it is easy to see why. With 154 flights of stairs, and 80 individual landings with unique perspectives of the surrounding area, heading to the top should be on everyone’s bucket list. Though, be sure to reserve your spot ahead of time, as they have decreased daily occupancy until further notice.Enjoy one of the many parks
NYC boasts over 1,000 parks, so finding open space to relax and enjoy the day isn’t a difficult task. With so many sometimes it is hard to choose, so below is a list of some of our favorites:- - Brooklyn Bridge Park
- - Washington Square Park
- - Central Park (of course!)
- - Bryant Park
- - Prospect Park
