Selection Process

Selection Process

The selection process takes about six weeks so please plan ahead for interviews, training, and meeting sessions. If you miss any of these you will immediately be disqualified from the application process. Please note that by filling out an application and attending our Group Process Day and Interview Day, it does not guarantee that you will be selected for the position. We will keep your application and résumé on file for future openings.

Please note that if you are applying to the EHS RA position, you will need to be available to work from Saturday, May 4th through Thursday, August 15th, 2024. In addition, all hired RAs are required to work check-in weekends. These dates vary by building, but the major EHS summer check-in days are May 25th-26th and June 1st -2nd.

Application

Complete and submit the EHS Resident Advisor Application with your resume, un-official school transcripts, two references and any papers proving that you are ok to work as an EHS RA (for international students) no later than Sunday, February 11th, 2024 by 11:59PM.

Before submitting your application, make sure everything is corrected and completed. You might be able to edit your submitted application if you go back to the application link from the same computer. However, if you are unable to edit your application after being submitted, we will not be able to edit it for you. Should you need to make any edits to your application you can request for it to be deleted by emailing us at StudentLife@studenthousing.org. Once deleted, you will need to complete a new application. Changes will only be allowed until Sunday, February 11th, 2024 by 11:59PM (this is when the application closes).

We highly recommend that you save your application text and answers in a separate document in case you encounter problems with the computer and lose the work that you have done in the application.

If you submit more than one application, we will only consider the first one you submitted. Therefore, if you believe you have submitted more than one at the same time, email us at StudentLife@studenthousing.org and we will delete the one you submitted by mistake.

Group Process

All applicants are required to attend an all day Group Process session on Saturday, March 2nd from 9am – 6pm in the St. George Towers. The Group Process session is designed to have current EHS staff personally meet and interact with you, as well as to give you an opportunity to get to know our team. Applicants that do not attend the Group Process Day, are late, or leave early will be immediately disqualified.

Only applicants with a complete application (including 2 references, un-official school transcript, and resume) will be invited to the Group Process. All applicants will receive an email the week of February 12th with their application status.

Interviews

Invited applicants will be interviewed on Sunday, March 3rd beginning at 9am, please plan to be with us all day. You will receive more information about this day during the Group Process. Interviews will be conducted at the New Yorker Residence. Some candidates might be called for a second interview. This does not mean that they have been hired or have a greater chance of obtaining the position, it is only an opportunity for another staff member to meet him/her.

Notifications

Final announcements will take place the week of March 25th. Candidates will be notified by mail and e-mail. Please note that because of the high turn out some might be offered to be placed on the Alternate List. If a position becomes available, it will be offered to the chosen alternates.

Training

All hired applicants are required to attend training. If you miss any of the trainings it will immediately disqualify you from the position. Below is a list of training dates and times:

  • Saturday, April 27th 9am to 6pm.

  • Sunday, April 28th from 9am to 6pm.

  • One day in building training, dates and times vary per residence.

In addition to the above training dates and times, hired RAs are required to schedule and attend a minimum of two day and two night shifts, where the shadow a current RA.

Room Assignment Information

Subject to availability. All 9 month reservations require 30% plus Membership Fee at the time of reservation, with 30% due by 8/1 and the final 40% due by 12/1.

4. Provide Guarantor Information

A guarantor is a person over the age of 21, usually a parent, who agrees to be responsible if you are ever unable to fulfill the financial obligations of your housing agreement. If you can't get a parent to be a guarantor, the next best bet would be a relative or friend.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

To ensure the integrity of your reservation, all cancellation requests MUST be received by EHS through DocuSign or sent via certified or registered mail (to 55 Clark Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201, Attention: Director of Leasing). Your request MUST be processed by DocuSign by 11:59 pm New York City Time, or postmarked on or before the cancellation deadlines set forth above. Cancellation requests processed or postmarked after the deadline or sent via a different method will result in NO REFUND of monies paid.

If there is a guarantor (required for 9 and 12 month reservations), the guarantor will be responsible to guarantee payment pursuant to the License Agreement and the Guaranty.

The client also understands that the Membership Fee is NONREFUNDABLE and NONTRANSFERABLE.

All refunds are processed via check within 8-10 weeks and mailed to the client.
