EHS Community Health Measures

June 2021

Our highest priority always is the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff. We are following regulations and expert guidance from government health agencies, and taking the following measures to help protect the health of our community:

EPA Recommended Disinfecting Standards

Cleaning Supplies

All high-touch areas like elevators and door handles, are frequently disinfected with EPA-listed products specifically indicated for use against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Additional Specialty Cleaning in Amenity Spaces

Extra Cleaning Crew

Common areas, work and amenity spaces are being disinfected more frequently with adjusted hours to allow for daily detailed cleaning.

Touchless Hand Sanitizer

Touchless Hand Sanitizer

Touchless sanitizers are available in the elevator areas and the common spaces.

Mandatory Protective Wear for Residents and Staff

Staff and residents are required to wear face coverings in common spaces.

Maintenance staff will wear gloves and appropriate face covering for all service calls.

  • For a detailed overview of Information and Safety within EHS, please see each building's Safety and Security Page:
  • Information regarding the expectations of our residents, including a required agreement, can be found in each building's Code of Conduct:
EHS reserves the right to update the Code of Conduct from time to time as a result of changing events, facts, and circumstances. Resident agrees to fully abide by such updates. All updates will be published online.

  • For information regarding New York State guidelines, visit coronavirus.health.ny.gov.

  • To find a COVID-19 testing site, visit nyc.gov/covidtest.

  • For regular updates regarding COVID-19 from the Mayor’s office please text COVID to 692-692.

Additional precautions for the safety of all residents and staff:

  • Contactless check-in procedures.

  • Guests are not permitted in the residences.

  • In-person events have been recreated to suit social distancing guidelines.

  • Fitness centers are closed until further notice.

  • Communal kitchens are open with limited hours that are posted in each residence.

  • Residents are expected to follow physical distancing guidelines, wash hands, and use face coverings.

  • Quarantine support and procedures are given to residents needing to isolate.

Room Occupancy

By selecting to live in a double/triple occupancy room, you are agreeing to live in a ‘Family Unit’ approach to room occupancy. This approach identifies all students who live in one shared unit as a Family Unit, meaning that within their shared space they do not need to follow social distancing guidelines (no face coverings, no need to maintain six feet of distance in the room).

It is understood that students in this arrangement share exposure and are therefore responsible to one another to protect the integrity of their shared space by ensuring that social distancing and other protective measures are followed whenever they are outside the room. This also means that if one student in the room is identified as being in need of quarantine, all members of the room will be quarantined, together.

Contacting Student Life Staff

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and the guidelines put in place by Governor Cuomo, all Student Life Desks/Offices are open virtually only, to help limit the spread/risk of infection. If you have questions, please email us at your building’s email address:

Please note that emails that arrive after the hours of 9AM and 5PM ET will be answered the next day.

Thank you in advance for cooperating with New York State government safety guidelines and please let us know if you have any questions at all during your stay.

Our community is global, understanding, and resilient, and we are proud of the way we have come together to address this concerning and evolving situation. If there is ever a time to practice more love and care for one another, no matter the distance, now is that time. We ask you to please be patient and understand the challenges that we are all facing at this time.
