The Bishop Gallery and Educational Housing Services Present 'Concrete Jungle' at EHS Hudson Yards Campus
Exhibition Featuring Juan Carlos Pinto and Brandon Hill Launches New Partnership Bringing Contemporary Art to EHS Student Residences
The Bishop Gallery and Educational Housing Services (EHS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing safe and supportive housing to students and interns in New York City, are pleased to present Concrete Jungle, a two-person exhibition featuring artists Juan Carlos Pinto and Brandon Hill at the EHS Hudson Yards Campus.
The exhibition marks the beginning of a new partnership between The Bishop Gallery and EHS focused on expanding access to contemporary art through exhibitions and installations presented within EHS properties.
Rooted in a shared interest in making fine art more accessible, the partnership brings contemporary art directly into spaces where students live, gather, and build community, extending the experience of art beyond traditional gallery and museum settings.
Located in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards and Manhattan West neighborhoods, the EHS Hudson Yards Campus provides housing to undergraduate and graduate students and college interns from around the world who come to NYC to pursue educational and professional opportunities. The residence is designed to foster academic and personal success, with fully furnished single rooms, 24/7 security, Wi-Fi and air conditioning, a spacious community kitchen, lounges, a game room, dedicated study spaces, a private backyard, and ongoing community events.
Against this backdrop, Concrete Jungle explores the relationship between New York’s built environment and the natural life that exists within it.
Juan Carlos Pinto transforms discarded MetroCards into intricate mosaics depicting Brooklyn’s birds, bridges, landmarks, and architecture. Pinto is currently featured in an exhibition at the New York Transit Museum’s Grand Central Gallery, further highlighting his distinctive use of MetroCards as both material and cultural artifact.
Brandon Hill, a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, murals, and sculpture, will primarily present his metal plant sculptures. His work, including pieces held in the collection of the Reginald F. Lewis Museum, transforms industrial materials into organic forms that speak to growth, resilience, and adaptation.
A significant portion of Hill’s work will be installed in the private outdoor backyard at the EHS Hudson Yards Campus, transforming the space into a temporary sculpture garden. Together, Pinto and Hill reimagine the “concrete jungle” as a living ecosystem where nature, infrastructure, memory, and urban life continually intersect.
Concrete Jungle is the first exhibition presented through the new Bishop Gallery x EHS partnership and reflects EHS’s continued commitment to creating engaging spaces and experiences that foster community for students and interns living in New York City.
