When It Is Time To Leave

Please note, you must check-out on or before 12pm on your move out day assigned by either EHS or the school you are in a contract with. Failure to do so will result in additional charges.

If you need an extension for a later departure date, you must contact the EHS Associate Directors at NewYorker@studenthousing.org or by calling 212-994-8815. If you booked directly with your school/institution we recommend that you speak to them. For a list of charges please check our Damages section in the building Code of Conduct.

Arrangements:

  • Please notify all merchants (Amazon, etc) of your change of address, as we cannot forward packages. Remember to stop by the mailroom before you go!
  • Any parcels that arrive after your check-out will be returned to the sender.
  • All items leaving the residence in anything other than a suitcase, must exit via the service elevators (located in stairwell A) and service entrance (located on 35th street between 8th and 9th Avenues).
  • Return your mailbox key and your EHS ID card.

Check-Out Instructions:

  • Clean and remove garbage/debris and all personal belongings from your room. Penalties may be applied to rooms left in disarray.
  • Return all furniture to its original set up.
  • If you wish to donate items for future residents, please stop by the Student Life Office for instructions.
  • Take a picture of your space from the entry way. The photo should show that the room is clear of garbage, excessive cleaning issues and damages. If your roommate has not yet checked out, still take a picture of your side of the room. You will submit your room picture via the Express Check-Out Form..
  • When ready to depart the residence, please come to the 15th floor to return your ID after completing the Express Check-Out Form (linked above). Follow instructions posted on table outside of the Student Life Office. 
  • Improper check-out fees will be applied to all residents who fail to complete these steps, return their ID or leaves their room with excessive damages, debris, or uncleanliness. Room condition will also be reported to group coordinators for residents staying with us via a school, internship, or organization.
